The Club
From its beginning in 1946, the Club has been
organized as a private, non-profit organization with its facilities
open to members and their guests. The Club is affiliated with the N.C. Wildlife Federation, the N.C. Rifle & Pistol Assn., the National Rifle Assn.(NRA), the Amateur Trapshooting Assn. (ATA), the National Skeet Shooting Assn (NSSA), and the National Sporting Clays Assn (NSCA).

Membership
One membership in the Durham County Wildlife Club covers the entire family -- husband, wife, and dependent children. Senior Citizen memberships are also available. Annual dues are $175 (or $100 for senior citizens), and there is a one- time initiation fee of $100. For new members who join the DCWC during the year, the annual dues are pro-rated by quarter. Membership is open to anyone, without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. Application form and procedure at bottom of the page.

Club Hours
The lake and grounds of the club are open to members and their guests throughout the week. The shooting facilities are open on Saturdays from 11:00 to 3:00 PM, and on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Call 361-1839 ( the closure hotline ) to find out ahead of time if the club is open or closed on a future weekend. Also, by volunteering to serve on a club committee, members may obtain off-hours shooting privileges. Off hours, no shooting is allowed after 10:00 PM, nor before 7:00 AM. (Note that during holiday weekends, the club is officially "closed," however members may bring guests following the "off-hours" rules.)
Visitors to the club (during open hours) are welcome to bring their shotguns and
enjoy our Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays fields.

Shooting Fees:
$2.50 For Club members
$5.00 For escorted guests
$8.00 For visitors (unescorted)

Free Pistol and Archery for member's children age 17 and under

Non committee members shooting shotgun during off hours may shoot only as a guest and must pay 2 tokens per round.

Pistol Range
Unlike the other facilities of the Club, the pistol range is not available to guests or visitors. Except for organized competitions, only club members who have completed the club's safety course are authorized to shoot on this range, and only those members who have off-hours privileges (volunteers) are allowed to bring guests to this range (during "open" hours only). To fund future range improvement, there is a daily use fee for the Pistol Range, equal to one shotgun round. (See above for sliding fee scale.)

Volunteers
The Club is run and maintained entirely by volunteers. Without these volunteers, the club simply would not exist. There are 15+ separate volunteer committees within the club, and while working on a committee is not required as a condition of membership, volunteering to work on a committee is strongly encouraged. Volunteers are expected to work the equivalent of a minimum of one day (4 hours) per calendar quarter. Volunteer details are included in the application package
Volunteers on any club committee enjoy reduced rates for trap skeet, & sporting clays. Volunteers who attend additional safety training enjoy off-hours shooting privileges as well.
