The DCWC Membership Process
Step 1: Obtain or download a membership application.
We do NOT mail out applications, but they are available on this web site. Nonetheless, we strongly feel the prospective member should visit the club, SEE the club, SEE the facilities, and then decide if our club suits the individual's needs.
Applications may also be obtained from the club shop during "open hours", which are Saturdays 11 AM till 3 PM; and Sundays, 1 PM till 5 PM. Note that the club is NOT generally open during holiday weekends. Applications are also usually in the clubhouse.
The package provides information on the various volunteer committees available. While volunteering is NOT a condition of membership, it is strongly encouraged. Benefits of volunteering are reduced rates in shooting and "off-hours" availability to the ranges and club facilities.
In an effort to equalize the manpower available, there are "caps" on most committees, and they are filled first-come-first-served. Thus, you might not be assigned to your primary committee of choice. List your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices.
With the exception of Clay Targets Committee and maintenance oriented committees, most committees REQUIRE a 4-hour presence at the club on either a Saturday or Sunday, up to 4 times a year. Clay Targets Committee and other maintenance committees volunteers can complete their assigned duties any day or days they choose over the period of a week. The Grounds Maintenance Committee volunteers can perform MOST of the required duties during the week, but MAY be assigned to at least one weekend chore during the year. Folks with weekend conflicts should consider joining the committees listed above.
Writing "any" in the committee selection box will allow the club to put your efforts where they are most needed in the club.
Step 2: Bring your completed application and check (or cash) to a safety class in order to complete your membership process.
Regardless of your shooting background, ALL members are required to attend the Club's safety class, once annually. This is required by the club's insurance carrier. No membership badge will be issued until you attend the safety class
Safety classes are always the first Sunday of every month and the Wednesday following, without exception.
Sunday classes begim at 1:00 p.m. - Wednesday classes begin at 7:00 p.m.
DUES:There is a one-time initiation fee of $100. This is paid by all new members, and is in addition to the regular membership dues. (Note that the initiation fee is non-refundable.)
Dues are $175 per calendar year, which runs from Jan 1st thru Dec. 31st. Dues are pro-rated by quarter.

Senior citizens pay $100 for
the full calendar year, and are also pro-rated by quarter.

There may be a short interview process at the safety class to determine that your application has been completed correctly and the duties and responsibilities associated with volunteering for a committee are clear.
Your membership application will then be processed and your dues accepted. You can be issued a temporary badge/receipt at the class, if you intend to use the Club prior to the time your badge arrives
Immediately following the general safety class, there are additional training sessions for folks desiring Pistol Range privileges or skeet certification.
Pistol training currently only lasts about a half-hour or so, and is followed by a brief practical demonstration (test) on the Pistol Range. Members desiring Pistol Range privileges must bring their own cased, unloaded handgun or small bore rifle to the club. No ammunition is required. Participants should also bring their eye and ear protection. Do NOT bring this equipment into the clubhouse; just have it available inside your vehicle. You will pick it up when you travel from the clubhouse to the Pistol range. You may use a rimfire rifle instead of a pistol - follow the same rules!
Skeet certification is conducted Sundays and Wednesdays, also following the safety class, but trap can only be done during daylight hours, so is only done early morning once a month - check the calendar for the dates. Clays training is done at 12:00 (SHARP!) on the Sunday following the safety class.
Step 3: Be patient.
Badges are made and mailed as soon as possible following the safety course. It could take as long as 2 weeks following the course before you get your membership badge (and combinations to the club locks if you are a volunteer).
You can certainly use the club facilities (and enjoy the lesser rates) during that wait, but only during "open hours", or as the guest of someone who has combinations.
